Single / Twin Coil Hot Water Cylinders
Megawave Hot Water Cylinders are designed and manufactured with the latest technology. Installing a Megawave hot water cylinder gives you the confidence that you are installing quality. All our inner water tanks are made of duplex stainless steel, it is designed to resist all forms of corrosion and stress corrosion cracking and the coils are made of SUS316L.
The outer tank is made of galvanized painted 0.5mm steel. The cavity between the inner and outer layers of our tanks is 50mm injected with PU insulation. All our tanks are tested to 10 bar with a working pressure of 6 bar.
Hot water cylinders for heat pumps need larger heating coil area because the temperature of the heated water produced by a heat pump is lower than that from a standard gas boiler.
The presence of 2 heating coils allows the use other sources of heating alongside with the heat pump, such as heating from solar thermal or from a gas boiler etc.
Buffer Tanks
A buffer tank is a good addition to a heat pump system as it optimises the heat pump’s performance while reducing “cycling” of the heat pump and acts as a hot or cool water reservoir.
It helps to keep a circuit of the water, the same hot water that runs in hot water cylinder’s heating coil and heated or cooled water ready for the demand. This is especially important for houses with multiple room thermostats and under floor heating etc.
We strongly recommend installing our 100 Litre buffer tanks alongside all our heat pumps as they will increase the efficiency and the lifespan of the heat pump.
